Iran Theater- Director of Performing Arts Center, Shahram Karami, attending the Fourth   Congress of the winners of provinces theater festivals, said: "Provincial theater should bring together prosperity and opportunity for theatrical groups."

He added:” Theater in the provinces and cities of Iran as the main theater base of the country is of particular importance in two respects, firstly the variety of different theatrical works in different cities of Iran which are very rich in content, form and native concepts. Second, there are the many talents among the younger generation and the magnificent works that pioneering artists produce in other cities, but our facilities in different cities are different, in some provinces we have good facilities and in others basic facilities, even a standard showroom. Not even there.”

He emphasized:” This is due to the taste and performance of managers in some provinces. The Department of the Performing Arts has faced this major problem for the last two decades and has tried to build infrastructure in Iranian cities by advancing various projects, including the building of a city theater, the establishment of a Plato Performing Arts, etc. These projects are failing due to lack of credibility or lack of support from provincial managers, and therefore there are some strengths and weaknesses in facilities in the Iranian province. In the last two years when I have been in charge of the Directorate General of the Performing Arts Center, we have been having trouble getting funding for many projects.  As the General Directorate of the Performing Arts center, we have a complementary role to play in provincial theater, and provincial departments must take the lead in their theatrical events, which varies according to the tastes of each director and the circumstances of each province.”

He revealed:” At the Office of the Performing Arts, we cannot solve all the problems of the provinces,  There is an expectation among artists, but we are not able to do so. We can only support events such as provincial festivals or initiate events that contribute to the growth of theater in the provinces.”
