Shahram Karami:

Writing is a necessity for me

Iran Theater- Shahram Karami, who resigned as director of the General Directorate of Performing Arts in March 2020, has now spent most of his time writing. He is currently writing the play "Sometimes Call Me the Sea" and hopes that the writing of this new play will be accompanied by the last days of Coronavirus pandemic.

The playwright tells ISNA about his latest activities: "These days, I have more time to focus on writing. Writing is not a passion for me, it is a .

necessity. I was away from writing for two years and now I have more time to write my plans and ideas.

Referring to the difficult conditions of the Coronavirus pandemic, he adds: The conditions of the Coronavirus pandemic are difficult for all our people and the world. But we all hope for the bright days ahead. when we have the normal world again, we will soon forget this time. However, the emptiness of those who are no longer with us is felt for us as long as we are. We lost many loved ones of artists and theater people. The lost is a severe pain. When I think about this sadness, Hamlet's dialogue comes to my mind: "There is a war in my heart that will not let me sleep!" But the art of theater has always taught us hope and life. I wish that the times become normal for all our people and the world very soon.”

Karami explains about his latest plays: During this time, I wrote the play "I Wish All Your Mouth Bones Are Back", which was published and unveiled in September of last year by "Oonvan"  publication with the support of the Revolutionary Theater and Holy Defense Association.
